The Sally and John Rideal Trust (TSJRT)

TSJRT is a small, independent, grant making trust.

TSJRT mainly makes grants to charitable organisations supporting children in care and care leavers.  It prioritises organisations with turnovers of £2m or less.

The Trust does not have any paid staff so operates as a pro-active funder.  Grant proposals are by invitation only.  TSJRT does not accept funding requests and will not respond to them.  The Trust appreciates this is imperfect. However, if you feel your organisation chimes with the characteristics we seek to support (see below), complete the form on the right, so that we are aware of your work when we are seeking new partners.  Please include your charity registration number.

The Trust seeks to reduce loneliness and build positive communities for children in care and care leavers.  It wants to make life in care and beyond as "normal" and happy as possible. TSJRT prioritises organisations with employees and Trustees who are care experienced.

The Trust looks for organisations that demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • they build trusting, long-term relationships with the people they support and the wider community

  • they are rooted in their community (geographic or interest) and are committed to building on the lived and learned experience of those they support

  • they promote happiness and independence amongst the people they support.
